mount royal

hmmm i'm going to blog my trip in installments since i've really got too much to say. would prob bore too many of you but it's just for me to remember. i guess this will be kind of like gan's usual blog entries. TOO MANY WORDS! haha

overall the trip was great. weather was wonderful. just pack a top and a light sweater with jeans or maybe a skirt with boots/tights. we were kind of lucky cos it only rained the day we left. montreal is incredibly french. most ppl there speak average english and fluent french. but easy to get around of course since they have to deal with the influx of american tourists. i reckon the best time to visit would be some time in june/july... cos the famous laugh festival (just for laughs) is open, the massive amusement park is as well and all the flowers would be in full bloom. of course it might be too hot.

so we left on... monday morning. flight to newark (say "new work") was 18hours. it was surprisingly a very comfortable flight. i was in executive economy which is pretty nice. oh this was on the airbus so i was very excited to see the standing room area where you can have snacks and mingle with the other passengers. but i was disappointed. the area is tiny! max for 6ppl but i reckon that would be a squeeze. we arrived abt 5pm (ny time), then connecting flight to montreal was abt an hour. i should have gotten a hint of how french-y montreal really is since all the announcements on the plane were made in french, then english. our hotel was the intercontinental, which is in old montreal. very nice! i had a HUGE double bed to myself. the bed was strangely very high, so in order to sit on it, i had to practically leap onto the bed. most inconvenient. was also rather upset to find out that la ronde amusement park wasn't open yet :( :( :( :( :(

tues. my dad and i did sightseeing! first we went to see the famous notre-dame basilica.

it's the most famous church in canada i think. anyway our guide was proudly telling us that celine dion and numerous other hockey players whom i don't know (you know how canadians love their hockey) were married here. then we walked around old montreal. it is so lovely! heh i was very scared there would be those just-for-laugh-gags ppl around. i'm sure i saw that old lady! also visited the Pointe-à-Callière (archaelogy museum) which to me was quite a bore. then we walked through the underground city! it is really quite confusing. we got lost several times. definitely not recommended if the weather is nice enough to walk above ground. dinner with my dad's friends was at les remparts, a very nice small french restaurant. the food was really good. i had onion soup, seared snapper with some yummy potato (!) thing and this unbelievable banana and chocolate dessert. with french wine of course! oh and if you recall our waiter looked like adam brody! :D

i'm bored of blogging.
